All Saints Blog Week of February 4th, 2019

Black History Month
Every February, Canadians are invited to honour the legacy of Black Canadians past and present. For 2019, the theme of the Government of Canada's Black History Month campaign is Black Canadian Youth: Boundless, Rooted and Proud.

In addition: The Michaƫlle Jean Foundation (FMJF), in collaboration with the Canadian Black Federation (CNF) and the Somali Family Service Center, invites hundreds of Black community representatives from across Canada, local and national organizations and the general public at the Second Black Canadians Summit to celebrate Black History Month and mark the UN's International Decade for People of African Descent (2014-2024) . The event is part of a larger gathering in Ottawa, titled 4 Days, 4 Nights: Tracing Our Future - Face to Face with Parliamentarians. This mobilization will enable Black communities to share the major challenges that they face in order to stimulate a national dialogue on the identified emergencies and the solutions to be undertaken for greater social cohesion in Canada, an inclusive, fair and inclusive development.
