Student Immunization
Ottawa Public Health is currently mailing notices to families if a student in the household has incomplete immunization records.  If you receive such a notice, in order to prevent a future suspension from school for non-compliance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act, please note that it is a parent/guardian responsibility to ensure that Ottawa Public Health receives the required immunization information.  You may contact them at:  Website: Update your child's records online   Telephone: 613-580-6744   Toll free number: 1-866-426-8885   E-mail: immunization@ottawa.ca

Some very exciting opportunities for our school community regarding technology purchases through Best Buy, and a chance to buy Ottawa Senators Hockey tickets at a discount while supporting your All Saints School council:
Best Buy Technology Specials for All Saints Parents and Students
At our “Meet the Staff” afternoon earlier in the year, I explained that All Saints was developing a partnership with Best Buy to provide technological devices (chromebooks, laptops, and other devices) at a discount to our school community.  To be most effective in today’s learning environments, students benefit significantly from access to technology at school and home, as technology is a vital tool for their learning and productivity. The school board invests heavily to support access to technology for students and staff across our schools. Devices are made available to students in our school; however, we have received many requests from students and parents asking for advice on what device they should purchase if they wish to bring their own device to school.
We have established an optional purchase program with Best Buy for those who are interested in purchasing their own device.  Parents and students may purchase any brand of device from any company as all devices will work on school network. Some of these devices are exclusive to our Best Buy partnership and not available to others through Best Buy.
The technologies listed on the Best Buy portal are only recommendations. Best Buy is offering discounts on protection plans and other supplies and peripherals but parents may choose to purchase from any vendor.  As you will see on the Portal, we are recommending Chromebooks as a simple, safe, efficient and cost effective device. We also help equip these with Board purchased software through the student Google accounts and the use of the student portal.  You can access the letter home describing the program in greater detail here.
You can access the information/instruction poster here.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Ottawa Senators Ticket Discount for All Saints Families
Again this year, All Saints has partnered with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Team to provide discounted tickets to a number of games this season.  The All Saints School Council directly benefits from all purchases, and money raised goes back to supporting initiatives at the school level.  When purchasing tickets, families are able to choose from 5 different games, with 8 different price points for seats.  Our ticket sale promotion will run to the end of November.
Students have an opportunity to win free Senators tickets and/or a pizza lunch for their class based on ticket sales.  You can download and print the form at this link, or your son/daughter can collect a form at the school.  Please ensure you identify the student responsible for the ticket sales so they get credit toward winning prizes.

Remembrance Day Observance at All Saints
The Remembrance Day ceremony at All Saints has become a long standing tradition of respect and reverence for our veterans.  This year was no exception.  Our staff organizers and students who will be travelling to Vimy in the new year, collaborated on a presentation that captured the reality of war with the recognition of the many individuals, some within our own families, who were involved in areas of conflict throughout Canada’s involvement on the world stage.  Thank you to all of those involved in the ceremony - an atmosphere was clearly established that encouraged reflection and quiet participation on the part of all of our students.

Dominican Republic Experience - Auction
At All Saints High School we are very proud of our partnership with an educational centre in Todos Los Santos in the Dominican Republic.  Our school community financially supports the teachers and resources at this village school.  One of the fundraisers that we run to support this initiative is our Live and Silent Auction / Wine and Cheese evening, taking place on Thursday, November 17th at All Saints School.  There are a bunch of auction items available including restaurant gift certificates, 67’s and Senators’ tickets, framed art, training and yoga sessions and many signed sports jerseys (including Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid signed Oilers’ jerseys!).  The night is always entertaining, and our Dominican group would love your support.

We Day Celebration
All Saints sent a contingent of 40 students to this year’s We Day at Canadian Tire Centre.  We Day brings together world-renowned speakers, top performers, and tens of thousands of youth to celebrate a year of action that transformed communities and changed lives.  The celebration is a “hats-off” to our many students who transformed ideas into action and supported change in our local and global community.  This year, our school group worked on the Free the Children initiative.  Students will be continuing with action and fundraising through December into the new year.

Cake Auction for Dominican Experience Group
On October 31st, all classes participated in our Cake Auction to benefit our staff and students travelling to the Dominican Republic this year.  Our All Saints Dominican Republic Experience (ASDREX) participates in the support of an early-childhood education centre for a rural community of students near a sugar plantation.  Each year our ASDREX group raises money for the regular operation of the Centre and to furnish the school supervisors with supplies. Thank you to all who participated.
All Saints Academic Awards Presentation
Thank you to the parents/guardians who were able to join us for the All Saints (grades 10-12) Academic Awards Presentation last week based on student achievement from last school year.  This was an opportunity to recognize student involvement and achievement across various academic areas.  Congratulations to all those who received awards or who were recognized for their inclusion on the Honour Roll.  A special thank you to our Student Services department for planning and organizing the morning.

EQAO Literacy Test Feedback
From EQAO: Students who were not able to access the testing site, who did not have the opportunity to complete the test or who were not successful will still be considered first-time eligible for the regularly scheduled OSSLT in March 2017. In addition, students who attempted the trial will be eligible for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC) at the principal’s discretion.
We apologize for the anxiety, frustration and disruption caused by the cyberattack on the online OSSLT. We are aware of how much work schools put into preparing for the test. Our team will be sure to keep you informed of any further developments.
